Tuesday, October 20 - Early Voting in NY Begins Saturday!
With Election Day (Tuesday, November 3rd) fast approaching, there are a variety of ways to vote, including voting by mail (also known as absentee or mail-in voting) and early voting. But before voting, find out who is on your ballot here and where your polling site is for early voting and Election Day voting.
Vote by Mail
Tuesday, October 27th is the last day to apply for an absentee ballot online, by email, fax or to postmark an application or letter of application by mail. But please be warned that despite this deadline, the Post Office has advised they cannot guarantee timely delivery of ballots applied for less than 15 days before an election. Request your ballot by mail here.
To vote by mail, ballots must be picked up and postmarked by USPS by November 3rd or can be hand-delivered to the Board of Elections.
For more information on voting by mail, visit the New York State Board of Elections website.

24/7 Food Pantry at Greenpoint Avenue and 43rd Street

If you have suggestions for alternative sites, let us know!
Woodside Sunnyside Composting Collective
Woodside Sunnyside Composting Collective [WSCC] is still collecting signatures for their petition to turn the proposed new park in the Sunnyside Gardens Historic District into a temporary community composting site. The petition also calls for the area to be used to grow food for families in need of additional support.
For more information on the petition and their proposal, click here.
Also: WSCC is supporting SWMA food relief efforts by accepting donations of non-perishable food (i.e. canned food, rice, pasta, etc.) at their site (the entrance to the garden is located on the corner of 50th Street & Barnett Avenue) every Sunday from 2 PM - 5 PM (or until they run out of space, whichever comes first).
Elmhurst Community Fridge
Elmhurst Community Fridge located at All the Right (91-30 Corona Avenue, Elmhurst, NY 11373). Since its inauguration on July 31st, the community has fed a vast number of families through the fridge. Recently they have run into a time sensitive issue with the landlord and need the community’s help. The landlord has brought up some concerns surrounding upcoming weather and safety issues related to the fridge. The petition seeks to show broad community support and to develop legal guidance for all involved.

“Amplify Library is a series of book sharing boxes dedicated to promoting works by Black authors and those that contribute to anti-racist conversations.”
Meet their newest library! Located in Sunnyside Gardens on 44th Street, closer to Barnett Avenue, our neighbors have stocked her with an impressive selection of books!
“When we launched, we were touched to see people honoring the idea of ‘Take One, Leave One.’ When you leave a book in place of one you're borrowing, it's an act of care for those coming to the library after you. Come by and share your favorite BIPOC-authored book.”
P.S. Don’t forget, if you plan to attend a protest, Amnesty International has developed a toolkit for how to do so safely and Mask On Zone has created an Anti Surveillance Protest Guide.
